Clothes rack, which one to buy?

The laundry rack is an essential and economic element to dry the laundry in our home. Currently there is a wide variety in the market: from the last electric clotheslines to the folding metal rack clotheslines, through the wall or ceiling clothes racks that allow us to take better advantage of the space.

Materials

The materials used will make the difference between one and another clothesline. The main structure and rods are made of the following materials:

Iron or steel : very resistant, but vulnerable to rust, which is why it is not recommended on outdoor drying racks. Despite wearing a coat of paint, it ends up peeling off over time. On the other hand, the rods are usually welded to the structure and in low-quality clotheslines they take off with use.
Aluminum : very light and does not suffer oxidation, which is why it is indicated both for interior and exterior. However, it is not as sturdy as iron clotheslines and can be deformed with the weight load.
Resin : It is the ideal material, it does not rust or deform as much as metal. In addition, in the resin drying rack all the rods form a single piece, so it is practically impossible that you get a "rod".

It is important to note that the thicker the rod , the less mark it leaves on the clothes when drying. Clotheslines made of aluminum, resin, or steel coated with plastic are advantageous.

Electric clothes rack

Electric clotheslines are the latest trend. The heat that radiates from the rods minimizes the drying time, but in practice it is not as effective as it should be. While heat is a major factor to consider as it speeds up the drying process, most electrical clotheslines do not apply properly . The problem comes when the heat only applies to the part of the clothing that is in contact with the rods. While it is effective in small clothes (underwear), it is not so much in the larger (towels, pants ...).

The truth is that specialized brands such as Leifheit or Gimi do not manufacture electric clotheslines. Others like Foxydry prefer to use integrated fans to accelerate the drying process ( Foxydry Air 150 ).

Advantages :

    Effective for small garments
Disadvantages :

Not efficient for medium / large garments
    Not recommended for outdoor use
    You need a plug near
