Advantages and disadvantages of the two toilets

The purchase of a toilet is much more complicated than it used to be. Instead of having only one basic type of toilet to choose from, there are numerous toilet styles made by many manufacturers. The double flush toilet is a style that is being imposed for environmental and financial reasons.

Advantage - Environmental Impact

Dual-flush cisterns have a two-configuration activation mechanism that uses either a two-position lever or a two-button system. This allows you to decide whether or not you want to use a high volume color of water or a low volume color. The ability to use a smaller amount of water, when only washing away liquids allows you to ultimately save as much as a gallon and a half of water in each of the hot flashes, reducing your home's water consumption.

Advantage - Cost

In addition to the environmental boost for water savings, this also reduces your water bill over time. Dual discharge cisterns are also considered high efficiency. This means that some states have discount programs in place that help people subsidize the cost of upgrading the toilet in their home to a model that uses less water. Certainly, if you have this kind of bonus in your state, installing a double-flush toilet in the home will be more affordable than buying an old, non-efficient model.

Disadvantage - Cleaning

If you buy a double-flush toilet, you should expect to clean more often than you had to clean the standard toilets. The reason for this is that after each discharge, less water remains in the container. The toilet will start to look dirtier faster than standard-flush toilets do.

Disadvantage - Cost

Dual-flush cisterns are more expensive than the other options you could choose. Certainly, they are more expensive than a standard toilet. Both the cost of the purchase and the installation cost are higher than that of a standard toilet. A double-flush toilet, however, is often more expensive even than other high-efficiency toilet designs.

How do the two toilets work?

While most of us do not think much about bathing at the base of day to day, these accessories are a must. As we become more aware of how our actions impact the environment, more people are interested in the use of environmentally friendly products. The double flush toilet is one of those products. However, many people are curious about how well two toilets work.

How do the two toilets work?

Two toilets are designed to reduce the amount of water that is used each time a toilet is flushed. Two toilets differ from standard toilets in that they give users the ability to remove different amounts of water, depending on the type of waste that is emptied. Two toilets use less water to remove liquids than they do to remove solids, but both types of blushes use less water overall than standard toilets do.

Saving water

One thing that two toilets do very well is to conserve water. Some old style toilets use up to 5 gallons of water each time someone flushes. However, with two toilets, this number is drastically reduced. For example, washing the liquid waste in a double-flush toilet uses only one gallon of water or less. In addition, when solid waste is washed with a double-flush toilet, only 1.6 liters of water are used, which means it has the potential to hold more than 29,000 gallons of water each year if you change to a toilet double download of a traditional time.

Energy savings

A study conducted by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing (CMHC) monitors how well two toilets work, placing them in different homes, institutional and commercial environments. The study found that when two toilets were used in private residences, the discharge rate was reduced by 68 percent. In addition, blush rates in commercial companies dropped by 52 percent, while those of institutional facilities decreased by approximately 56 percent. While this conserves water, it also conserves energy. Each time a stool is emptied, the energy is used to pull the chain. Therefore, two toilets also work well in reducing energy.

Customer satisfaction

While it is good to know that double-flush toilets are ideal for those who want to go "green" for water conservation and energy reduction, many others are more concerned with how well two toilets work for the consumer. The same study conducted by the CSMC also examined the overall customer satisfaction of those who used two toilets. Overall appearance and functionality were rated as "satisfactory" or "good" in more than 85 percent of users. As a result, more than 66 percent of people said they would recommend double-flush toilets for others.

How do toilet cleaners work?

Commercial Toilet Bowl, Cleaners

Some toilet cleaners use bleach, which will create toxic fumes when chlorine comes into contact with ammonia (urine contains ammonia). Other toilet bowl cleaners create a frothy, amorphous mass that rises when it hits the water in the toilet bowl. The foam is a concentration of bubbles that flush the toilet continuously bouncing against the surface of the toilet bowl. Blue liquid toilet cleaners operate more slowly than foam cleaners, and are made of chemicals that break down the deposits of dirt and minerals in the toilet bowl.

The two most common types of bathroom cleansers are made from acidic or alkaline chemical ingredients. Acid cleaners contain phosphoric and citric acids, as well as alcohol, citrates and anionic or nonionic surfactants. Alkaline cleaners are made of sodium / hydroxide / hypochlorite carbonate, anionic / nonionic surfactants, citrates, glycol ethers, alcohol and sodium. Ammonium compounds are widely used in cleaning products of toilet bowls.

Acid cleaners

The soda can be used to clean the bathrooms. The acidity of the non-alcoholic beverage will eat away the dirt and minerals in the toilet bowl. Tail products are often used to clean the wheel bearings of the skids, and make a powerful bathroom cleaner. Soda pop is effective in the filth of eating on the plate. The lemon juice will remove the films and dirt, and weaken the mineral deposits in the toilet bowls. Toilet cleaners that are made of acids can be a liquid or powder. Acid powder cleaners (sodium hydrogen sulfate) work well for cleaning at night, because dust sticks to the inside of the toilet bowl. Unlike dust, acidic liquids (hydrochloric, phosphoric and oxalic acid) move slowly towards the hole in the toilet, bringing the dirt and mineral deposits with it. Quaternary ammonium chloride quaternary germicides in liquid bath cleaners, which should not be mixed with products containing chlorine (such as toilet bleach). The dye is included in liquid bath cleaners to alert the consumer that the acid cleaner is present in the toilet.

Cleaner Natural alternatives

Some natural remedies to clean the toilets are also effective, and do not include some of the toxic chemicals found in the trademark to clean the toilet. A homemade toilet cleaner is prepared from 2 tbsp. of baking soda, 1 tbsp. of olive oil and 1 teaspoon. of lemon juice. A simpler alternative, however, is white vinegar; It works best if you sit on the toilet and let it sit for 2 hours in a relatively clean toilet, or up to 24 hours for heavily soiled toilets. The same vinegar treatment is used to remove rust from old, corroded toilets, bathtubs and floor drains.

Chemical toilets: tips for maintenance

Chemical toilets are portable sanitation units that consist of a sanitary device located on an airtight tank that stores excretions and that generally contain a chemical solution to facilitate dissolution and thus reduce odors. In addition, they are usually contained in a kind of prefabricated plastic cassette with a door that can be closed with a latch.

These types of toilets are common for fairs and parties, as well as outdoor events such as concerts or festivals, sports activities ... that is, they are an element that is used a lot in this summer season. In addition to the advantage of portability, they also work autonomously, since they do not need to be connected to the water network or to the wells.

Precisely because of its purpose, the cleaning and maintenance of chemical toilets are vital. It is important that they be checked and emptied regularly to avoid overflow, but just as important, if not more, is to use a product that ensures the correct and rapid dissolution of the excretions to avoid clogging and bad odors.

Norden has created the chemical compound Provat I for use in bathrooms and chemical toilets, with which we ensure a perfect dissolution and destruction of excretions.

Chemical toilets: Characteristics of the product

  • Provat I is a liquid concentrate to keep the toilet tank clean. It is very effective for the destruction of slurry, as well as to eliminate organic matter and avoid gases and bad odors. Provat I also has bactericidal and fungicidal components, and is registered in the Official Pesticide Register.

Advantages and benefits of using Provat I

  •     Deodorizer.
  •     Degrade organic matter.
  •     Disinfectant power.
  •     Concentrated product
  •     Bactericide and fungicide.

Applications and form of use of the concentrated product for chemical toilets

Provat I is used in all types of chemical toilets for caravaning, airplanes, yachts, etc. to avoid the formation of bad odors or gases since it destroys organic matter and has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

Regarding its use, 24 ml should be used. of product for every 4 liters of tank capacity for its dissolution. Fill the toilet immediately with enough water, so keep in mind that the liquid always covers fecal matter. If not, add the necessary water. Empty the contents of the tank in a place indicated for these purposes. Changes in temperature or alterations in the time limit between tank emptyings can lead to the use of a greater or lesser amount of product.

Presentation of Provat I

The concentrate for chemical toilets Provat I is presented as a transparent liquid with an intense blue color and characteristic odor. Provat I is distributed in bulk per liters in plastic containers, and can be purchased in 5, 10 and 30 liter bottles.

Do it yourself - Repair water toilets

Repair water toilets

The problem

In pleasure boats there are three types of toilets: manual, electric 12 and 24 volts, and chemical toilets. There are hand operated lever-operated clock-type toilets made of chromed bronze, manufactured in Argentina since the beginning of the 20th century and there are more modern ones, built in plastic with a vertical-drive inflator-type pump.

American Standard 3517.B101.020 Toilet Bowl, White
American Standard 3517.B101.020 Toilet Bowl, White

All of them can stop working or do it in an inadequate way and, in most cases, with a little skill and knowledge, they can be repaired without resorting to a specialist in the subject. Only chemical toilets, also called pouches, are disposable and have no repair.

The materials

Corresponding spare parts, in each case. If it is possible, remove the spare part that is no longer working and take it to the spare parts store to avoid buying the wrong one.

The procedure

Repair of manual toilets

These toilets require manual skill and availability of special spare parts for their repair. These are composed of three parts:

  •     The lower one, which serves to fix with stainless steel screws the base to the floor of the bathroom where it is installed. It has inside the water inlet and outlet valves that will do the job of propelling the water, so that it reaches the rear entrance of the white porcelain sink to wet and produce the drag of substances overturned inside.
  •     The second part, looking from bottom to top, is chromed or painted bronze, which houses the two suction and discharge valves that produce the output of the water served to the outside.
  •     These two valves are commercially called "gon" and "castañuela" (due to their external shape). Between the first part or lower and the second or middle is installed a rubber and cloth diaphragm, pressed between the two surfaces, using 9 bronze or stainless steel screws. Both the diaphragm, the gon and the castanet are available in specialized nautical stores.
  •     The third part or higher is a toilet bowl of white china, commonly of round shape that manufactured the firm Ferrum until 1992. To give tightness to this piece, which is mounted on the second part, a piece of soft rubber is used Thick washer type.
  •     We note that of this type of toilet there are two models, one to operate under water level and another on water level. This means that the water level of the river may be lower or higher than the level of the toilet bowl.
  •     Regarding the imported manual toilets of last generation, arrived in Argentina in the last part of the XX century, its exterior conformation was built in plastic or metal with the three parts that define its appearance:
  •     At the base in a horizontal position, on one of the ends, the white porcelain bacha is mounted on a thick joint of soft rubber.
  •     At the other end, a vertical pipe is installed, which is an impelling suction pump that produces the pumping of river or sea water to be carried to the bacha through the upper rear part.
  •     At the bottom of this pump there are two rubber valves commercially called "duck mouth and gon" with different shapes according to the manufacturer's brand.

The most common faults that are detected are hardness or stiffness of the rod when trying to operate, decrease of water suction that is pumped from the outside of the boat producing an insufficient operation of the toilet, increase of the water level inside the sink when the toilet does not It's in use.

  •     The locking of the shank is caused by the deformation of the rubber ring that is housed in the plastic piston. This defect occurs because the "O" ring on the piston was designed as a static seal and does not coincide with this application that is dynamic. To solve the problem replace the plastic piston and the type of packing.
  •     The deficient suction and discharge of the equipment is produced by the deficiency of the material of the double rubber clapper in the upper part of the pump. You also have to rectify the flat parts where the double clapper supports. In the lower part of the base there is a special rubber gasket that is vulcanized with a piece of metal inside for counterbalance, because iron is oxidized and dilates, deforming the flatness of the support, preventing the operation of the valve. There are old toilets whose pump is mounted on the horizontal base with only three vertical screws. This inadequate assembly deforms the flatness of the two plastic bodies and produces the loss there when the pump is operated. This is solved by rectifying each of these plans before installing the new board.
  •     The duck mouth or exit elbow valve rarely deteriorates; If so, and there is light between the lips of the outlet mouth, it should be replaced.

Repair of electric toilets

There are different brands of electric toilets in the Argentine market for naval use. We will deal with, in this case, the most commonly used. There are originals from the United States and China, with two different brands but from the same manufacturer. There are also kits in Argentina for manual to electric conversion.

Made in the USA are of high quality and long durability. These toilets are repaired in the following way, according to their fault:

  •     If the problem is the lack of cutting edge on the shredding blade at the tip of the motor shaft, sharpen the two planes of attack of the existing blade.
  •     If there is a lack of flatness on the support face where the assembly is mounted, lay flat to the area where the rubber ring of square section rests and replace the original rubber ring with a rubber gasket whose shape matches that of the plastic base of the toilet.
  •     If the fracture occurs in the center of the body of the plastic impeller, replace it with a bronze one.
  •     If the rubber impeller installed inside the bakelite body was deformed, replace it.
  •     If you notice deterioration of the paper gasket that is installed between the lid and the body - both of Bakelite - where the impeller is, replace the paper gasket.
  •     If the rubber seal of the electric motor shaft is tight, replace the seal with a new one but with a stainless steel spring.

Toilets of Chinese origin can present several defects, for which there is a solution.

  •     The first toilets of this type, more than fifteen years old, bring in the tip of the shaft a piece of plastic that should break and destroy the toilet paper and solid components, which does not happen with this implement. If you have this component, you must replace it with a stainless blade with a sharp edge on the edges of the attack.
  •     The latest generation, which bring a stainless steel blade, are not infallible either. If the plastic impeller is cracked at the center where the shaft enters, replace the plastic impeller with a bronze impeller.
  •     If there is deformation and wear of the square bronze plate with nine holes, rectify the bronze plate on both sides and change the central rubber ring.
  •     If the existing paper gasket between the bronze plate and the bakelite body is damaged, install a new gasket and rectify the bakelite body plane.
  •     If the rubber rotor is swollen and the blades are curved, replace it with a new one.
  •     If there is a loss of water between the electric motor and the bakelite body, replace the rubber seal on the bakelite body. The retainer spring must be of stainless steel.

The project

According to some estimates, some 2,300 million people do not have access to a sanitation system that guarantees minimum hygiene conditions.

The project, developed by the British University of Cranfield , is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The invention manages to eliminate waste without using water and without the need to be connected to the sanitation network. As you will understand, it is something that caught our attention. In Econet Desatascos we work daily in the cleaning of pipes in the province of Barcelona and the fact of not being connected to a sewerage network is disturbing. Therefore, we want to check if in the future this system will be as reliable as the current toilet.
The intention of the project was to implement it in Africa at the end of 2016. The project has been around for 4 years and is still undergoing tests, although we will surely see its results soon. Well, we'll be attentive!

How does it work
The Nano Membrane Toilet is an ecological invention that uses human waste to generate energy, clean water and fertilizer without using water, external energy or being connected to a sanitation network.
Once you close the lid, the toilet starts to work. The waste passes through a rotation mechanism that prevents the exit of bad odors. The waste is filtered through a nanomembrane that evaporates the liquids converting them into vapor. The solid part is completely free of liquids, that is when each part is treated separately through two novel mechanisms.

The evaporated liquid part is directed to a chamber where, thanks to hydrophilic miniparticles, they convert this steam into water suitable for irrigation or cleaning.
On the other hand, solids are directed to this second chamber where they are incinerated, generating low voltage energy . This energy is used to run the toilet and can even generate energy to charge small devices.
The leftovers of this process end up turned into ashes, which can be used as fertilizers. Here we leave you a video so you can better understand how it works.

conclusion

The main objective of this project is to commit to ecosaneamiento and sustainability. One of the main advantages of this system is the incredible water saving it would entail and the possibility of taking it to areas without resources. This type of system could be implemented in countries without access to sources of running water, electricity or a sewage network to evacuate waste. This fantastic invention would help to reduce pollution in these countries, a considerable saving of water and energy, in addition to the reuse of waste, thus betting on the circular economy.

The saving that this invention would imply in series consumption impossible to calculate, but without a doubt, it would be a revolution.

This invention would avoid pouring a large amount of sewage, of which much, end up in our oceans, rivers or filtered through the earth. Keep an eye on their progress, as we may soon hear about the Nano Membrane Toilet again.

The toilets have reached the maximum development, both in operation and in finishes and water savings. Precisely in this subject, Miguel Jaramillo is an expert. The Fluidmaster filling valve is your alternative. "It is easy to install and easy to use." This sanitary fitting can be installed in most toilet tanks. Currently, 4.8 liters of sanitary wares are offered in the local market, saving 63% of water per year. "These are high efficiency pieces." This type of water-saving device has another advantage of being able to identify leaks and automatically fill the tank when it is not being used, says Jaramillo.

It has a part that activates when a leak is detected. However, the valve does not make noise. "It has quiet operation thanks to a fast filling with a positive cut". Also, the toilet tank fills up faster. In 25 seconds the process is complete. The constant rate of filling ensures a complete discharge every time the toilet water is sent down. It is made of materials resistant to corrosion, hard water elements and constant use.

"The guarantee is one, two, three and up to 13 years." Some pieces are plastic, others rubber and metal. The Fluidmaster can be completely repaired. There are people who throw the valve when it does not work anymore but, Jaramillo adds, the product must be checked because it has a rubber that can be replaced. Its cost, including installation, is USD 28. But the expert says that if the purchase passes the five valves, the price can go down to USD 25.

To place it, no special tools are required. The approximate time of application is 30 or 45 minutes. These products are marketed in various colors: plumb, brown and black. In the local market, additional games such as chains are offered, which are not included in the cost of the valve.

Toilets and suspended bidets: advantages and disadvantages

You only have to look at the "designer" houses, the catalogs of the bathroom brands or simply our special bathrooms to realize that toilets and suspended bidets are in fashion . Of course, not without reason, they are lighter visually, they pass more unnoticed and even have a point of magic, having hidden the cistern.

However, normal in the homes of mortals are conventional toilets and bidets - waiting for the toilet of the future - more or less beautiful, resting firmly on the floor, with its cistern on its back and its imposing presence, especially the toilets, which make it the center point of the bathroom.

I am sure that many of us have been tempted by the toilets and hanging bidets, in fact I would be very happy to put them to reform the bathroom, but perhaps due to ignorance of its advantages and disadvantages , we have stayed with the conventional.

Advantages of toilets and suspended bidets

Not that I want to convince you how wonderful toilets and suspended bidets are when you talk to them first about their advantages , but I think it is best to start there to shed some light on why they attract us so much.

Toilets and suspended bidets - advantages

1. Visual lightness

The suspended bathroom pieces are very light visually because they seem to levitate on the floor. In addition, having hidden the cistern, are smaller, and their relative presence in the bathroom decreases considerably, going more unnoticed.

2. Most beautiful proportions

By being able to dispense with the support on the floor, the toilets and suspended bidets can recover a more beautiful and elongated proportions , in addition to a cleaner geometry, away from the compositional hulk that are the traditional toilets, even the most elegant ones.

3. A mystical charm

Like the cantilevered terraces, the great bridges and other impossible structures, the hanging toilets call our attention , because they pose a challenge to the laws of gravity, especially considering that they must support our buttocks to feel the call of nature .

Also, having the cistern hidden, they also have some magic , as if the water emerged from a mystical spring hidden in the walls of the house. A little exaggerated, yes, but part of our brain is dazzled by these things.

4. Easier cleaning

Some of the advantages should be pragmatic, and the greater ease of cleaning , to be able to pass the mop under the pieces and avoid those grimy and inaccessible corners of traditional toilets, is a compelling reason from the practical point of view. Sure that these types of toilets help us a lot in the daily routine to keep the bathroom clean
Disadvantages of toilets and suspended bidets

Now that we have seen the advantages, let's see what inconveniences have the toilets and suspended bidets that do not everyone opts for them when decorating your bathroom.

Toilets and suspended bidets - disadvantages one

1. Loss of space

As I always say, space is neither created nor destroyed , there is what there is. And if the cistern is to be hidden, it must be somewhere, and that is none other than the partition behind the toilet.

Saying that, it seems that we have gained space, put the cistern on the wall, and here peace and then glory. But is that the wall tanks, even the thinnest and thin, do not occupy less than 8 centimeters, to which we add the fittings for the toilet to support our weight, which leads us to not worth any partition for our intentions, and less the usual brick partitions of the seven or a single line of plasterboard stiles.

Therefore, in order to install the suspended toilets, it is necessary to have a wider wall at your back, which will lead to a loss of centimeters of bathroom space, something that can not always be allowed in the design and distribution , on all with increasingly smaller bathrooms.

2. Greater complexity of installation

The toilets and bidets of a lifetime are quite easy to install and uninstall. It's little more than connecting everything and fixing them to the ground. On the other hand, hanging a toilet is not a turkey mousse , and installing the cistern also takes a little more time, especially in partitions - on plasterboard, it's easier - which brings us to the next point.

Toilets and suspended bidets - disadvantages

3. Higher cost

Given the complexity of its installation, as well as the need for specific pieces - hangers, cisterns ... - placing toilets and suspended bidets is significantly more expensive than installing the bathroom parts of a lifetime. If we are managing a modest budget, it is very difficult to get them to fit in, both for the price of the materials and the price of the installation.

4. More complex maintenance

Although once installed, the tank can be accessed from the button, we all know how cumbersome it is to deal with them when they break down -something that happens frequently- so no matter how much the manufacturer assures that this will not happen, and that in that case can be solved by that small gap, I do not even want to imagine the cost of having to change a built-in cistern .

Conclusions

The toilets and suspended bidets are a great option for those who have moderately large bathrooms, or that by arrangement does not suppose any problem a thickening of the wall. The disadvantages of these practically only appear during the design phases -except maintenance- and the rest are practically all advantages.

Sure you have not changed the toilet flushing system ever, and it's about time to do it. You can call "daddy hands", or become a Super Mario for a moment and do it yourself. It really does not make it necessary to know about plumbing to fix a dripping cistern, it has leaks, and it does not stop flowing. With our advice, in 10 minutes you will have fixed the tank. We start?

Prerequisites to fix tank

The system of discharge of the cistern is very simple: When "strips of the chain", a valve is opened to let out the water. This water comes from the reservoir of the cistern, which will then gradually be refilled. When the float that we can see inside it reaches a certain height, it acts as a closure so that water does not continue to enter the cistern.

Causes of leakage in the toilet cistern

When you notice that the cistern does not stop coming out, it is that it has a leak, and always water comes out. The first thing that needs to be done to fix the cistern is to determine the causes:

  • - It may be that the filling valve does not seal properly and allows a little water to pass through. It is located in the lower part inside the cistern tank.
  • - It may be problems with the float. The float of a toilet is connected to the valve of the float, through a rod. This connection is carried out by means of a screw, which we can open and close manually.
  • - Leakage due to slit or deterioration of the base of the toilet. In this case, a small puddle of water appears on the foot of the toilet.
  • Solutions to fix toilet cistern
  • - If the filling valve fails:

The first thing we have to do is close the stopcock. Next, we unclog the cistern tank.

Now and with the help of a spanner or a clamp and a clamp we remove the flexible or tube that carries the water to the tank. We must buy a valve for our tank, that is, we must take into account whether the water intake is lateral or the bottom of the tank. In any hardware store or DIY center we can buy it with the characteristic of our toilet. It is very easy to assemble.

We begin with the installation, we must use the accessories that we have removed from the previous valve (ring, trims, ...). The procedure is the same as to remove it but in reverse. Once installed in the tank, we will put teflon in the mouth of the water intake of the new valve, to avoid possible water leakage.

In the video you have all the detailed steps to fix this failure of the tank:

- If what's wrong is the cistern float:

If the problem lies in the cistern float, we must change it. To do this, we close the stopcock, pull the chain to empty the water tank. With a wrench we unscrew the external hose that connects the stopcock with the float. The thread for this step is located on the side below the cistern.

We also remove the plastic nut from the float and we can remove it.

Go to a hardware store or mall with these pieces, so they give you the same.

When you have the new pieces, you just have to put them in a simple way, twisting and fixing with a nut.

Problem solved! Cistern without leaks and like new:

- Fix leakage of water through the base of the toilet:

Clean the base of the toilet thoroughly, with medicinal alcohol. Do not use other types of products that can leave a greasy film. After this, apply silicone around the perimeter of the toilet.

We already have our cistern fixed and without leaks. Still do not have time to fix the tank? Do not worry, you can find a cheap plumber through Helpy .

How does a toilet flange work?

Importance of the toilet flange

A toilet flange is an important part of the toilet. It is the point at which the unit connects to the toilet not only the floor, but also in the pipe that goes to the sewer. A poorly adjusted toilet flange can cause leaks, leading to weakening and rotting of tables, even in the bathroom around the toilet.

Features of the toilet flange

A flange is a flat circular piece of rubber, PVC or metal that has a hole drilled at intervals around the top of the circle through the bottom. These holes are for fastening screws and are used to keep the toilet. Some toilet flanges come as a circular piece, while others are connected to the PVC elbow joint. The elbow joint is connected to the pipe system, eventually leading to the sewer.

How a toilet works

The work of the toilet flange does not start when the water comes out and the waste goes to the sewer, but when the user pushes down the lever of the toilet to initiate a discharge. This raises either a trap or a ball above the discharge valve. The water in the tank rushes into the toilet. The trap is connected by chain to the lever. While the water is running out of the tank, the trap is lowering until the tank is empty. This activates a ball wrench, which fills the tank one more time.

Function of the toilet flange

While the toilet flushes, water released from the holes below the rim of the toilet bowl pushes water and debris from inside the intestine and up through the porcelain trap and down into the drain. Both connected gravity and suction from the toilet to the ground cause water and waste to run into the drainage system.

With the different uses of a toilet, a flange is a very important component. Proper maintenance is key, as replacing a defective flange is a very difficult task.
