How to move water in the toilet tank

The displacement of water inside a toilet tank is a way to reduce your water consumption. Decreased water consumption is the environment and can also reduce your monthly water bill. According to the Daily Green website, you can save up to 10 liters of water per day by moving a small amount of water into the tank. Displacement means placing an object in the toilet tank. This object is carried to the volume, leaving less space for water.

Instructions

1 empty a plastic water bottle. Place about an inch of sand in the bottom. You can replace small stones or pebbles from the sand.

2 Fill the water bottle almost to the top with clean water. Close the lid.

3 Lift the lid of the toilet tank. Carefully lower the water bottle to the bottom of the tank on the opposite side of the float arm and the water tube. You can lay it flat if there is enough space, but having to stand up is acceptable. Make sure it does not sit on top of the tank drain cap.

4 Replace the toilet tank lid and pull the chain to empty and refill the tank.

Tips and warnings

  •     Periodically open the lid of the tank and the position of the water bottle to prevent it from drifting towards the other side of the tank. If you find that the bottle is moving around and there is a small gap between the opposite corner and the water pipe; Carefully place the bottle between the corner and the tube. Make sure it does not interfere with moving parts.
  •     Use a smaller bottle, as a larger one can displace the excess water and prevent proper washing.
  •     Do not place other objects in the toilet that can clog moving parts or, like bricks, can disintegrate in the toilet tank.
