How to connect a water supply pipe to a toilet tank

If you connect a new toilet or the installation of a shut-off valve in an old toilet, you will have to connect the water supply line to the toilet cistern. The type of pipe you choose will determine how difficult this job is. While this website recommends a sturdy section of the chrome tube, it can be difficult to bend. If you want to make the job easier, go with a flexible tube section instead.

Instructions

1 Close the water flow to the main one.

2 Screw the lock valve nut into place so that it is properly connected to the service.

3 Connect the new tube to the bath by screwing the white plastic nut into place. This will help you see how it aligns with the shut-off valve so you know where to bend it.

4 Bend the tube with the help of a tube bender, unless you have chosen a flexible tube. Align the bent pipe once more with the shut-off valve.

5 Cut the excess pipe with a pipe cutter so that the pipe extends about 1/4 inch into the shut-off valve.

6 Connect the top part to the tank by screwing the plastic nut into place. Insert the bronze bushing into the shut-off valve and tighten the compression nut on the shut-off valve completely, but not excessively, as this could damage the pipe.

7 Turn on the water at the shut-off valve.
