Zinus Michelle 12 Inch Compack Bed Frame, for Box Spring and Mattress Sets, Extra High so Bed Risers not needed, Fits Twin to Queen

How to build the foundation for a bed frame

A simple box frame forms a mattress base that is compatible with any type of futon or mattress on the bed. Starting from this base, you can add what you like functions to make the bed truly yours. This project, suitable for beginners and intermediate timber workers, will take an afternoon to complete. Although these plans are for a full-size bed frame, you can use the concept of building a frame for any size mattress by adjusting the dimensions of the wood.

Instructions

1 Sand all sides of the wood. Sand one side of the plywood a second time with finer grain sandpaper.

2 Establish a 52-inch plank and a 75-inch plank in an L, at the end of the 52-inch plank discharge against the face of the 75-inch plank. Join them together by two L-braces, both located in the inner corner of the L. Place each L-brace three inches from one edge of the wood.

3 Repeat step two, building a second l using a 52-inch table and the other 75-inch plank.

4 Bring the two L together, arranged so that they form a rectangle. Connect the two free ends with L-keys each. Set the keys on the inside corner, placed three inches from either edge, just like the connected Ls.

5 Slide the remaining three 52-inch planks into the frame, which forms the supporting ribs. They set up planks parallel to and 20 inches from the other 52-inch boards in the frame. Connect each 52-inch plank to the 75-inch planks with two L-brackets at each connection point, positioned and fixed and when you have the other connections in this project. The final result must be similar to a bookseller established on its back.

6 Adjust the sheet of plywood on the top of the frame, finely sanded up. The softest texture of this face to protect your mattress will snag.

7 Nail the blade in place, setting each nail half an inch from the outer edges of the blade. Place one nail in each corner and three nails evenly spaced along each edge.
