Zinus Dawn 14 Inch Easy To Assemble SmartBase Mattress Foundation / Platform Bed Frame / Box Spring Replacement, Full

How to make a single bed frame

Making your own single bed frame is a good project for newcomers to wood who are for a bit of a challenge. The frame of the bed uses simple butt joints and is a robust but attractive design. This accommodation facility will be ideal for children's rooms or as a free bed in the guest room study, and you can be proud to say that you did it yourself.

Instructions

1 form two 1-inch-thick pieces of wood that measure 12 x 77 inches and two pieces that measure 12 x 39 inches in a box, with the ends of the 39-inch planks inside the 77-inch planks making corners.

2 Fix the planks in place. Drill four holes of the countersunk screws of size slightly smaller than the 2-inch wood screws through the side of the 77-inch iron at the ends of the 39-inch planks. This is the basis of the structure of the single bed.

3 Slot of four boards of 1 inch thick-wood measuring 8 by 39 inches in the frame, parallel to the 39 inches of the frame. Push the two outer plates against the ends of the frame and space the other two evenly between them. Push all the boards down so that the bottom of the plates is on the same level as the bottom of the frame. These are mattress supports.

4 Insert a corner bracket on each side of the ends of the two intermediate brackets and into the corners of the end brackets. Use 3/4 inch wood screws to secure the corner brackets to the frame and support plates. In this way the screw holes do not appear on the outside of the frame.

5 Position two boards 1 inch thick-lumber construction measuring 4 by 32 inches (top legs) and two planks measuring 4 by 22 inches (end legs) in pairs on each side of each end of the frame. Have your helper help you lift the frame so that it is 10 inches from the ground, then fix the frame for the legs. The final legs will be level with the top of the frame and the upper legs will extend another 10 inches above the frame.

6 Slot a 1-inch thick wooden plank measuring 4 by 41 inches between the top of the legs, which extends over the frame. Slide down so that it is about 2 inches from the top of your legs. Drill two holes for countersunk screws through the side of the best legs at the end of the head rail and secure with 2-inch screws.

7 Place a sheet of 3/4 inch MDF or 38.5 by 76.5 plywood in the frame resting on the mattress supports.

Tips and warnings

  •     If you want to paint the frame, do it before mounting after retouching all visible screw holes afterwards.
  •     Extend the length of the legs to 60 or 80 inches to transform the structure of the bed into a simple four-poster bed.
