Repairing a squeaky wooden bed frame
A squeaky bed frame can interrupt your night's sleep - even if you do not remember waking up. Wooden beds are not usually as strong as metal bed frames, but mounting bolts or pieces of wood can still make noise when they are rubbed. To eliminate the racket, you need to cushion either the screws, the legs or areas where the wood joins together. If you can reduce the cause of the squeaks, you will have a solution.
AmazonBasics Platform Bed Frame - Foldable, Under-Bed Storage, No Tools Required - Twin
Instructions
1 Sit on the mattress and bounce; reduce the location of the squeaks.
2 Remove each screw in turn sizzling. Wrap the screws with plumbing sealing tape and screw a plastic washer into each of them. Replace and tighten with a screwdriver.
3 Spray some silicone-based lubricant on the squeaky bolts or rails.
4 Cut a piece of felt into a square the size of the point where two sections of the frame meet and squeak. Cut the size holes of the screws in the center of the felt, remove the screws and place the felt between the two frame parts. Insert the screws through the holes in the felt and reassemble the frame. The felt can also be placed in between battens if the screech is coming from that area (not near the screws).
5 Place rubber furniture cups or a carpet area under the legs of the bed if the bed rests on wooden floors.
6 Center mattress and box spring in the frame to eliminate squeaks caused by improper weight placement.
