How to Clean Aluminum?
Using Weak Acid to Clean Aluminum Kitchen Utensils
Do not clean the aluminum kitchen utensil when it is hot. Trying to clean a hot pan can cause your fingers to burn.
Remove dirt and grease. Wash and dry the aluminum material to ensure that no dirt or oil remains. To clean the oil, use warm water with dishwashing detergent.
Prepare an acidic solution. Use 2 tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice for each liter of water.
Acidic solution reduces discoloration due to corrosion. You can rub forks, spoons and cutlery with acidic fruits or vegetables such as apples. Alternatively, you can add apple peels to water instead of acid.
Fill the pan with solution. If you are cleaning cutlery, add it to the pan and then add the solution. If you need to clean the outside and inside of a saucepan, try immersing it in a larger saucepan. If you do not have a pan large enough to fit the pan, add a lemon with salt added to the pan you want to clean.
Boil the pan for 10 to 15 minutes.
Turn off the stove when the aluminum shines. Let the pan and its contents cool down. Pour the water.
Gently rub the pot or pan with a sponge. This will help eliminate color cast. However, avoid using steel wire as this will damage the aluminum.
Dry the pan thoroughly using a clean towel.
