Previously, the lack of bags brought a lot of trouble - the garbage had to be carried out in a bucket, and then the bucket was brought back.

Few people know the story of who and how invented the really much-needed household item. In 1950, the administration of a Canadian city turned to an American engineer, Harry Vasiluk, who himself is from Ukraine. They asked Harry to come up with an invention that would not allow garbage to crumble when loading from a container into a trash can. Vasilyuk planned to create something similar to a specific machine for the absorption of garbage, similar in function to a vacuum cleaner. True, this idea had to be abandoned, as it would be a rather expensive pleasure.
How to choose a trash bag?
An invention was suggested to the engineer by a phrase that was told by one of his relatives that a special bag for garbage should be invented. In those years, already used paper and woven bags, but it was Vasilyuk who suggested using plastic bags for waste. And then it was decided that practical and cheap polyethylene is quite suitable for the production of disposable garbage bags. For the first time this invention was used in a hospital in Winnipeg. And only in the sixties the production of garbage plastic bags for civil needs was launched on a grand scale.

Currently, garbage bags are easy to purchase in almost every store. They have a low price, so they are used everywhere: in homes, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, at various enterprises, etc. They even began to be used on street bins, which greatly simplified the work of cleaners. Also, thanks to them, the removal of household waste in our cities has become noticeably cleaner and more environmentally friendly, since garbage is no longer carried by the wind when loaded into a garbage truck .

There are all kinds of garbage bags, different in purpose, color, density and size. Basically this thing is either black, or blue or green. Very rarely use transparent bags. The developers have thought about a comfortable carrying, equipping the container with a specific ribbon (tie), which then serves as handles. Tightening straps securely close the bag, blocking extraneous odors.
By type of waste, the following bags are distinguished:
Bags for domestic waste. As a rule, such bags of small volume: 20, 30, 60, 120 liters. The strength of the bag is determined by its thickness, typical values: 8-10 microns, 30 microns, 60 microns, 120 microns (very strong). The greater the thickness, the more weight a plastic bag can withstand, the more usually it is more expensive and larger in volume. Packages of 30 liters are in the greatest demand; in a package they are usually 30 pieces, the thickness of polyethylene is 8-10 microns. Flavors are often added to them, so that unpleasant smells are not so noticeable. An interesting fact is that some catalyst is added to bags for household waste. Its presence allows the decomposition process to occur much faster than usual (in a few months), which has a beneficial effect on the ecological situation.

Bags for construction waste. Since construction waste is usually bulky and heavy, bags make it more bulky and stronger. Their size ranges from 120 to 240 liters. There are bags consisting of many layers that can withstand a lot of weight. Often on packages for construction debris there is an inscription "especially durable." To make polyethylene really strong, it is passed under very high pressure. Construction bags are usually reusable, besides being recycled. Therefore, it makes no sense to add a catalyst in them, as in household garbage bags.
Garbage bags are a convenience, low price, thanks to which they are able to buy each and respect for the environment compared to other plastic waste . In the case of using the house before buying, it is only important to correctly determine the size of the trash bag - its volume should be significantly larger than the volume of the trash can.
