What is Flu? What are the symptoms? Elderberry Treatment for Flu
What is Flu?
Influenza is an infectious respiratory disease caused by influenza virus. Viruses can be transmitted from the air or from people carrying the virus.
Symptoms of influenza:
Fire
Cough
Runny nose
Muscle or body aches
Headache
Fatigue
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Although people of all ages may have influenza, young children, pregnant women and adults aged 65 and older are at risk of developing more serious complications associated with the flu. ( 1 )
Conventional (Traditional) Flu Treatment
Traditional flu treatment includes antiviral drugs and vaccines. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend injectable influenza vaccines for anyone older than 6 months of age. Vaccine injections are available as inactive influenza vaccine (IIV) and recombinant influenza vaccine (RIV).
There are a few things you need to know about the flu vaccine. Vaccine does not show its effect immediately, it takes at least two weeks to be effective. Therefore, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends vaccination in autumn, when the influenza virus is more common.
Flu vaccine may not be the definitive solution
Woman with flu
One thing you should know is that you are at risk of influenza, even if you are vaccinated. The virus used in the vaccine may not always be matched with the circulating virus. The efficacy of the vaccine varies from year to year, because influenza viruses are constantly changing, called antigenic shift, and experts try to gracefully select the viruses to be included in the vaccine a few months before the onset of the flu season. It is not possible to be one hundred percent sure which flu viruses are most prominent in any season, so it cannot be guaranteed that a flu vaccine will provide complete protection.
Between 2017 and 18, the flu vaccine resulted in widespread failure. A study published in the CDC's Weekly Report on Morbidity and Mortality followed cases of influenza among 4,562 children and adults in the United States from 2 November 2017 to 3 February 2018. He found that influenza vaccine was only 36% effective. ( 2 )
Get Fresh Air
Indoor winter environments can be a source of concentrated toxins and germs. While warming our house in winter, the dry air we breathe makes the respiratory tract more reactive and sensitive to viruses.
Spend time outside during the winter months and make sure to sunbathe when appropriate.

Echinacea (1,000 mg daily)
This plant helps your body fight infections, but it is best to take it when the first symptoms of the disease occur.
Echinacea extract was tested in 2013 in a double-blind, randomized, controlled trial. Researchers have found that echinacea does not cause the same resistance as a popular flu medicine that effectively cures respiratory infections in the short and long term. ( 6 )
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted in 2000, it was found that drinking 5 to 6 cups of echinacea tea at the time of upper respiratory symptoms and 1 cup of tea a day for 5 days significantly reduced the symptoms of colds and flu. ( 7 )
Echinacea is an anti-inflammatory that helps reduce the bronchial symptoms of colds and flu. It directly attacks yeast and fungus species.
Different preparations have different concentrations of echinacea. Some common preparations and dosages include:
Tablets containing 6.78 milligrams echinacea extract, two tablets three times a day.
900 milligram echinacea root tincture daily.
Drinking five to six cups of echinacea tea on the first day of symptoms and then 1 cup of tea a day.
Elderberry (10 mL daily)
It is believed that this plant can inactivate influenza virus and naturally increase immunity. Elderberry flowers and fruits are said to strengthen the immune system, treat flu and alleviate sinus pain.
Elderberry attacks influenza viruses and reduces bronchial inflammation. One preliminary study found that influenza symptoms relieved on average four days earlier than placebo medications when 15 ml elderberry syrup was taken four times a day over a five-day period. ( 8 )
Oregano Oil or Oregano Juice (500 mg per day)
Thyme
Thyme oil has a strong antiviral effect. Thyme oil is a good treatment for fighting viral infections, and there are studies showing the strong antiviral properties of essential oil, although there are no studies evaluating the efficacy of thyme on the flu. ( 9 , 10 ) When you start to experience the symptoms of influenza, you can drink thyme juice for half a cup of tea daily
Zinc (50–100 mg daily)
Zinc supports immune function and has an antiviral effect. ( 11, 12 ) You get the best effect when taken when the first symptoms of the disease start. Zinc can reduce the symptoms of the cold virus, but excessive amounts are not good. Zinc pills and sprays are effective treatment methods.
It is recommended to take 50–100 milligrams of zinc daily to treat cold and flu symptoms.
Brewer's Yeast (Brewer's Yeast )
Brewer's yeast supplement contains vitamin B , chromium and protein . Used for colds, flu and other respiratory infections. Brewer's yeast stimulates immunity by positively affecting the microbiome, which can also improve digestive function. ( 13a )
Research at the University of Michigan Medical Center has shown that the yeast supplement reduces the severity of colds and flu symptoms and is beneficial for patients to have significantly shorter symptoms. ( 13b )
Essential / Essential Oils for Flu
Mint and frankincense (frankincense) essential oils of the feet and neck bottoms can naturally support the immune system. ( 14 , 15 )
Usage Areas of Essential Vegetable Oils Essential Vegetable Oils
You can also try to use clove oil to protect the body against infection and to ensure rapid recovery from the flu. Research confirms that clove oil has anti-microbial and antioxidant properties. ( 16 )
Chiropractic Care for Flu Prevention
During the influenza pandemic of 1918, influenza patients who received chiropractic care survived the disease much easier than those who did not. This is because chiropractic care focuses on nervous system health, which can help strengthen the immune system. ( 16 )
In a study conducted in 2011, there was significant research on chiropractic regulation and its potential to help strengthen the immune system. ( 17 )
Probiotics
Recovering beneficial bacteria in the intestine can help you significantly strengthen your immune system.
A 2017 laboratory study found that a particular probiotic strain, Bacillus bacteria, showed anti-influenza activity by completely inhibiting influenza virus. ( 18 )
What are probiotics? probiotic-containing foods
A systematic review of 2017 and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials evaluated the effect of probiotics and prebiotics on the immune response to influenza vaccination. The results showed significant improvements in H1N1 and H3N2 strain protection rates of participants receiving probiotics and prebiotics. This means that taking probiotics can increase your immunity. Attention to the side effects of influenza vaccine
The flu vaccine also has side effects such as pain at the injection site, swelling, pain in various parts of the body or fever. These vaccines often contain dangerous chemicals and preservatives that can cause adverse causes and rarely cause serious allergic reactions. ( 3 )
Centers for Disease Control The CDC recently made some additions to its 2007 guidelines on non-drug interventions to protect itself and others from influenza. Some recommendations for non-personal interventions: ( 4 )
Stay home when you are sick.
If someone close to you is sick and you have been exposed, spend this time at home.
If you cough or sneeze, close your mouth with the help of a napkin.
Wash your hands frequently or use hand disinfectant.
If you are sick and have to be with people, use a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
If you follow these recommendations, you can help prevent the spread of flu.
Natural Ways for Flu
You can try to consume natural remedies, vitamins C and D, herbal supplements , essential oils, probiotics, and healthy foods to avoid flu. You can try natural remedies to alleviate the symptoms.
Vitamin C (1,000 mg daily)
Vitamin C helps the immune system function and increases white blood cells. Studies have shown that vitamin C reduces colds in physically active people. ( 4 )
Foods with vitamin C
To prevent colds or flu, you should take 1000 milligrams of vitamin C a day and if you have symptoms, you can take up to 4,000 milligrams per day. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for the most nutritious vitamin C supplement.
Vitamin D (2,000 IU per day)
Vitamin D enters the body by sunlight and regulates the expression of over 2,000 genes, including the immune system. Unfortunately, 90 percent of people experience vitamin D deficiency. ( 5a ) Recent research shows that low levels of vitamin D pose a higher risk of colds, influenza, and respiratory infection. ( 5b )
Vitamin D Capsule
Many physicians say that the recommended daily amounts of vitamin D are very low and that 2,000 units are a better option than 200-400 units per day. You can get it from home test kits to test your vitamin D level.
