A large part of the remodeling of a tiled wall is to remove grout and glue used to adhere the tile in place and allow the movement of individual tiles without breakage. Retirement is a simple process but it takes a lot of time, and you should use the right tools and materials. Once you have finished, however, your tiled surface above will be clean and transparent, ready for any use you choose.
Instructions
• Place a collection cloth around the tiled surface to protect against dust. Use adhesive tape to secure the fabric.
• No Goggles and a mask to protect your eyes and the dust's lungs kicked upward while grout and glue are removed.
• Remove grout between tiles using a rocking tool with a grouted carbide blade. Run the vibrating foil over the grout between the tile joints. As the blade moves over the grout pulls the grout from the gaskets, to the glue holding the shingles in place.
• Remove the tiles using a lever. Place the lever on the edge of each tile and apply pressure, lift the edge. As the edge is raised, move the lever farther under the tile, exerting pressure until the tile comes out.
• Remove the glue from the surface using a sustained carbide nozzle blade at an angle of 45 degrees. Push the blade along the tail, cutting the surface. This will eliminate most of the glue.
• Use an orbital sander to remove adhesive residue from the surface. Pass the sander in small circles over the glue, grind it and leaving the surface smooth.
Tips and warnings
- Always keep the orbital sander moving. Hold in place for any amount of sand time thanks to the tail and remove a layer from the surface below.
