How to clean unsealed grout
Grout is a sandy substance placed between the tiles. It is highly recommended to seal the grout using a grout sealant to prevent stains, mildew and water damage. If Grout is not sealed, it is important to avoid the use of aggressive chemicals and excessive amounts of water to prevent water damage and discoloration. If you are not sure whether the grout is sealed, try this simple trick: dripping a small amount of water onto the grout. If the water is absorbed in the grout, which is the unsealed grout. If the water grains up, it is sealed grout.
Instructions
1 sweep the grout on the floor tiles with a broom to remove dust, dirt and debris.
2 Mix 1/2 cup sodium bicarbonate, 1/3 cup ammonia, 1/4 cup white vinegar and lukewarm water seven cups in a spray bottle.
3 Spray the mixture over the unsealed grout in a small area. Immediately absorb water with a towel or wet/dry vac. Do not allow water to penetrate the grout; It should only rub the surface, and the dirt is eliminated when removing water. Continue this process until all areas are clean. The process may need to be repeated over the same area several times.
4 Push a clean towel or paper towel into the grout, not sealed to ensure all moisture is removed.
