How to put the grout on the floor

How to put the grout on the floor

To leave our work completely finished and after the tiling or laying of the floor and the baseboard parts, the grout comes out . The grout is necessary to cover the joints between the floor tiles and the baseboard, to give consistency, while avoiding the intrusion of water and dirt into them.

Grout Cleaner Product

To decorate the joints, the first thing to do is to remove the remains and splashes of the glue cement that has been applied with a spatula, sponge or sponge. With the surface on which we are going to work, clean and dry, we go to prepare the paste for joints, also called grout.

materials

  •     white cement (or joint with color already prepared)
  •     Colorant
  •     Water

Tools

  •     drill
  •     mixing rod
  •     valde or cube to make the mixture
  •     rubber brush
  •     sponge
  •     scourer
  •     spatula
  •     cloth
  •     gloves

How is it done?

Note : I recommend using gloves for the hands, the white cement or board cracks them. In addition it is also advisable to use a mask due to the dust generated when performing the task.

1. We can use white cement and dye to obtain the color we want, or flashing with the color already prepared. In case of using the white cement and the dye, we throw in a valde or cube the proportion of color that we want to obtain, that you are seeing. The final mixture has to be rather liquid, like a custard more or less, it can not remain watery but not caked. In case of buying the flashing already with the color, we will follow the indications of the manufacturer.

2. We put the mixture of grout already prepared on the floor of a room, and spread it with a rubber brush all over the surface of it. We must give several passes to the grout so that the joints are well filled with the product. Let's pick up the excess grout for another room. To put the grout on the baseboard, we must let the paste (grout) harden a bit, and then with the help of a spatula, insert it into the holes, then continue with the same procedure as for the floor: sponge, wait, rag rough…

3. Wait a few minutes until the grout settles and proceed to clean it with a damp sponge. The passes of the sponge should be diagonal, thus achieving that the mixture penetrate better.

4. After one hour, with the hardened grout, we can clean the remains in a more thorough way, with a scouring pad or rough cloth.

5. And done, finished work.
